I havent had to deal with my hubby going out to sea yet, but he will be going somewhere between the end of October and November for sea trials and if everything goes according to plan they are supposed to go to Hawaii for comissioning in April and wont be back until October of next year.....and it scares me. I guess that I am just not sure how to deal with that yet, cuz I havent had to deal with it yet, but I didnt know if anyone had any advice on things to do or how to deal with the fact that they are gone when you have a child that is upset and starts to cry when he goes outside just to move the car or goes down the road to go to the store and hell be right back. That really tugs at my heart strings and I dont know how I will be able to comfort her when he starts leaving....when she gets so upset when he leaves for 20 min. If you have any advice....please let me know, and thank u for your help.

The answer is one day at a time. You will find yourself waiting by the phone and computer for countless hours. Email will make it easier it's not like you will have no communication at all. Don't fight over things that don't matter. Yes it's easier to be mad at him than miss him, but don't stress over the little stuff. If he goes out while in port remember he loves you and he's coming home to you. Yeah hear so many horror stories about what they do while they're out but just trust him. As for your little one it won't be easy. Remember you chose to marry this man and to have this life but she didn't and she won't understand until much later what daddy was really doing for her.:flying: Good luck.

My brother had to leave his wife and daughter to go to sea every other year for six months at a time. His wife had a lot of problems. I asked her how she dealt with it and she said she leaned on friends. She would watch "Navy" movies and tell their daughter that was what her daddy was doing. It seemed to help.
Good luck!! Ur strength is amazing!

Hey
I feel you!! Im 20 with two little boys and My hubby goes tdy he is airforce!! Im lucky he got to be to here for my second pregnancy but he went on his first tdy alittle while ago and its hard but life goes on and i had to be strong for my kids and him!! My best advice to you is to go join your wives group in the squadron if you have one! If not join a club in the local community or a group thing like exercise group or a craft group and rely on your friends!
