Hi,
I'm new on this site, but it already looks great!
My boyfriend is deploying soon and I want to send along some things with him to remind him of how much I love him. Does anyone have any good ideas? One idea I have is to take a desk calendar, one of those with tear-away pages for each day, and write a comment on each page. I was hoping to find a company that would let me design my own calendar but I haven't found one, any ideas?? I also am thinking about sending along a decorated pillow case, maybe with iron-on pictures or something. Does anyone have any other good ideas??? This will be my first experience with a seperation that lasts longer than 2 months.
:jumps: I just had to put this in, because a sheep jumping rope is just too funny!

hi,my boyfrined is in iraq right know and i send him lots of diffrent things to let him know that i am thinking of him. when i send packages i put little sticky notes on some of the items with cute little messeges on them. He likes pictures, and funny stuff to read to keep there minds off of whats going on over there. something cute for you to do like your calender idea is i made a chain out of construction paper for everyday that he is going to be gone and everynight before i go to bed i write him a little messege about my day so that when he gets home he can read them all. as far as the calender idea goes you can buy a program on your computer to make your own or you can browse the net im sure ther is a company out there that will let you do that. well i hope that this helped you.:)

well i am about to deal with my first overseas separation. but i had to deal with a 9 month long basic due to injuries so i am use to a longer separation. my husband loved it when i just sent him a letter everyday with everything that happened or what i did. just writing everyday letting him know what all is going on is helpful to you also becasue then it doesnt seem like u have to try and remember to tell him what all happened while he was gone the next time u see him. i also printed off jokes and funny pictures and sent them to him. i have a friend who would make little gifts for her husband and his friends. she would get powerade bottles or something similar and fill them with goodies like candy and other small things. i really like ur idea of making a calendar though. that is really sweet.

My brother is leaving for Iraq in a couple of months. As of right now he is in Camp Shelby, Mississippi along with over 500 more soldiers who are training to go overseas. Its a hard situation though and is tough for everyone.

i think that you should do the calander thing b/c when my husband was in trainning they all had to have to same everything on there beds and all that so i dont think that he would be able to use the pillow cases, but he would be able to use the calander......my husband is going overseas at the end of feb. and i got him just a calander and on every month i but either a pic. of our daughter or me or all of use or just him and i....i dont know if you have a kid or not but that is just an idea for you too

Hey if you have Myspace, there's an awesome site you should add. And even if you're not on myspace, you can still view the site. It's awesome. Everyone has such great ideas for deployment. Just click their blogs and read them. One thing I do to make sure my husband knows I'm secure, and what's going on: I send him an email everyday telling him about my day. EVERYTHING. From what I wore for the day, to who I spoke with on the phone, to what I eat. Details are important. It makes him feel like he's right here with me. You can keep this is mind while you're home without your boyfriend. It's a VERY hard struggle. We have the hardest jobs in the military. It takes a strong woman to love a man in the military. God bless! And hang in there! If you do have myspace, you can add me. I'm at myspace.com/loverofshopping. Hope this helps! -Stevi Koz

Last night i thought of a good idea (at least my boyfriend and i think it is) We both are very into photography and love to edit our pictures. So I thought of the idea to Combine a letter and a photograph. We decided that i would send a new Photo Letter everyday. He is mostly excited because he gets to see how i change over time he wants to see as my hair gets longer because he wants me to have long hair but right now its very short. You need a digital camera or a scanner, if you have a program that will edit pictures you can take the photograph to that just using all the things you can do to the picture to make it special. My boyfriend loves them I sent the first one last night. Its really neat to make the pictures transparent so the words show through or the other way around.. make little sayings to put around the outside.. Here is what my first one looked like. Its just simple nothing big because i had just talk to him on the phone. but yay lol it was proud. =] hope you guys like the idea. Tell me if you do.:jumps:

i can totally understand how hard it is for being apart. I was really close friends with my boyfriend for a year and he went to germany in end of feb and we've been dating for a mth now. well he is soon to be shipped off to Iraq in July and we cant stand not seeing eachother.we cannot see eachother until next year after july.:( so we made up an idea by creating ideas.. and sending ecahother a blanket or like i did i made a pop up heart and express my love to him. those ideas are helpful and a stuff animal and they could spray their scent on it. my boyfriend and i are just starting it.. but i agree military wifes and gf's and fiancees are strong women.

Just stay busy when he is gone, when I left my wife got a job and worked like 50 plus hours a week. she would also right letters to me everyday just telling me about her day just like we would talk when sitting down for dinner, I tried to do the same but did not always have time. plus when you are gone it is always nice to hear from loved ones at home.
As for homecoming, I can assure you there will only be one thing that he'll want. You should be able to figure that one out.

My husband's going to Afghanistan in 2 months...his deployment party is in a few weeks. Unique and special ideas are hard to come by. Since he's going to Afghanistan, I purchased an Osama Bin Laden pinata. That might not be too appropriate for your husband's Iraq deployment, though. But go to http://www.prettypartyplace.com/unique-6... to find an Army tank pinata which might work for you. We're also renting some bouncy castles, etc. for all the kids coming.
I plan to ask everyone to write down words of encouragement and support on a large piece of paper. Then I will take it to a screenprinter to have it screenprinted on one of the Army t-shirts he will be taking with him so that he can wear his family's words of love under his uniform the whole time he's there.
I also plan to have a sign-up sheet for everyone to put down their email addresses so that I can keep them informed of his activities.
One last thing I'm doing for my husband is choosing a nice picture of his 2 sons and me to put on dog tags he can wear right along with his real dog tags while he's there. Here's just one of the many websites that do this http://www.picture-dog-tags.com/
I'm interested in hearing what ideas you have...please let me know. Good luck to you and your husband!!!
