DOn't worry about it, girl. It will all be ok. Just keep the letters and package coming to him!! If he's going to basic, just don't send him candy or put little hearts all over the envelopes, they get "smoked" for that!!
My husband left for basic the day after Christmas in 2004, now he is in Iraq.
He has been gone for 6 months and has 6 to go, maybe more.

Don't you worry about it, theres nothing to sweat. if you keep those letters going back and forth and those packages and all that good stuff, things will be fine!! look at it this way, it'll go by faster than you realize, trust me, i kno, my boyfriend only has a year left in the army all together, and that may sound like a lot, but since he's been in for 2 already, i am SOO excited to see him come home to me!! everthing will be fine, if you ever need support, there are plenty of women here around you to help!! keep the faith! and remember to keep strong, and to keep your head up!

I am in the same boat...except my boyfriend is leaving for basic training in 3 months and will be gone for almost 2 years, he won't get back until February of 2008 :( He isn't going active duty though he is just doing the reserves but will more than likely re-up as active after his reservist duties are done...he will be in Monterrey, CA for defense language institute and in AZ for some kind of interrogation school...he's Military Intelligence...I'm proud of him but I'm gonna miss him like crazy.

My fiancee left back in December for Iraq. He is a MP. I have been in the military before. He has already came home for his R&R. He hasnt been gone again for a month yet and I swear I miss him more and more everyday. We decided to get married by proxy so this time next month we will be married. It is hard, I was working 2 jobs to make the time go by along with college. But when he came home he made me leave one of the jobs, said I was going to work myself to death. All I can say is write him and let him know you support him. Military life can be very hectic, just let him know you are there for him. And keep yourself busy. IT makes the time go by faster. HEY! Don't worry about it!! I know someone who dated a guy who went through basic *Marines* and they wrote letters and she sent packages and it went by really fast she said. But, I'm dating a guy whos in the Coast Guard *my friend hooked us up* and he lives in VA and I'm in PA. Its a 6-7 hr drive me my house. We talk as often as we can and email eachother all the time. It's hard, but if ya love him it makes it 100 times easier!! :) He comes to see me as often as he can and I do the same for him, he usually tells me he cant come up but he shows up and surprises me! So, dont worry! Everything will turn out fine!!

Hey don't worry about it...my boyfriends in the Air Force and he was gone all over the country for 6 months!!! Before that he was a marine and I was lucky if I saw him Once a month....:-( But I sent him packages...and pix....and letters almost every day, he'd send me little gifts and cards and even Air Force and Marine Corps bears in uniform with little I Love YOu messages...and we managed to get through it...and now i'm the proudest air force girlfriend in the world. When he puts on the uniform...it just makes me love him even more..and makes me realize how hard he worked and I was there for him.the hardest is the initial leaving..but once he's gone he'll be home again before you know it...just keep your head up....it'll be allright:)

My boyfriend left the end of May. Im counting the days till he comes home in July. (25) I miss him so bad but the letters really help. Two weeks ago he got a ten minute phone call, when he had to go I was brave and told him good bye, but after I hung up I cried like a baby. Its not easy. But you just have to be proud of your man and be strong for him, God knows he needs you. I feel so helpless I want to comfort him so bad. Not that he'd ever admit he needs comforting.. Oh no.. : ) . Although Ive never meet any of them Ive eager to see the men in his platoon, Im attached to them alreay.
